![]() Millar took the time honored tropes of James Bond and turned them on their heads and made a movie that was a parody, but at the same time a movie that itself apart from the other movies in the spy genre with its charm and style. Review: I loved the first Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and I probably watched that movie a minimum of ten times because it was a great mixture of action, comedy, and all in all a great adaptation of a graphic novel written by Mark Millar. These two elite secret organizations must band together to defeat a common enemy. Plot: When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, the Kingsman's journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US. Starring: Taron Egerton (Eggsy), Mark Strong (Merlin), Julianne Moore (Poppy), Colin Firth (Harry Hart), Pedro Pascal (Whiskey) Overall it's not un-enjoyable but nothing really special either. Not sure if this makes much sense to anyone but it just feels like it's trying too hard to beat the first film and goes overboard through most parts of the film. Those are my major two points without giving too much away. Insane scenes: Who doesn't like action? While the film has plenty of it, it almost feels like it tries to outdo the first but either feels too over the top or just not enough of the right type of action. ![]() ![]() There was also many poor excuses for some of the characters being there or for the way they were it can't dice too deep due to spoilers.2. There's even characters that you want to know about that seems to just be denied of that almost right away and then what felt like shameless villain recycling, not heavily but not lightly either. Not many new characters: sure there's characters we like from the first that we get to see and a few new ones but the new ones we care so less about and feel almost forced to like or hate them with out much of a chance to even get to know them at all. ![]() There's plenty of specifics but won't go into them due to spoilers but I'll keep it as general as possible:1. It's not that I hated it, but if I've never seen the first film then this would have either seemed really stupid or plain fun but having seen the first film I have to say I'm rather disappointed in the writers of this second instalment.
